I love all things techie!
I have always loved all things techie. I started working on “personal computers” when they were the size of a big sewing machine weighing 28lbs with a tiny 9-inch screen.
In my first job out of college, I worked for a major publishing company in their “electronic publishing” department – the precursor to e-books.
Demystifying Tech Talk
One of my responsibilities was to serve as a liaison between the technical people and the sales people. This required me to “translate” complex tech-talk into language that marketing and sales people could understand.
It has been amazing watching the progression of how the industry has changed.
Odd Jobs as a Stay-At-Home Mom
Over the years while raising our family, I held a multitude of odd jobs – direct sales manager, office management consultant and administrative assistant at a web store.
In each situation, the common thread was the computer. Whether I was creating brochures or updating a website, I loved this aspect of my work.
It was the job at the web store (year 2008ish), however, where I really caught the Internet bug. I reconnected to my techie side and was thrilled to find a job that fit with my personality and my family and gave me flexibility – I loved it. Unfortunately, I was laid off from this job during the recession and needed to find something else. Something where I was in control
How I Got Here
With this in mind, I decided to go back to school earning a certificate in website development and design. In 2011, I launched msf web design, llc primarily to build websites for local small business and non-profits. Most of these were brochure sites - a virtual business card online. While informative, these sites do not make your website profitable. To achieve this, you not only need to build a website - you need to market it. And I help my clients do this everyday!
I believe that anyone who desires to translate their
passions and expertise into an online business
should have this opportunity,
regardless of age or technical know-how.
I reserve a few spots per month to speak with potential new clients during my free "Let's Talk" call. It is my gift to you because I know how frustrating it can be at times.
